Free School Meals

If you are what the government terms ‘on a low income’ your child may qualify for free school meals regardless of their age or year group. When a student is on our Free School Meals register, the school receives extra money for that student called a Pupil Premium. Its purpose is to ensure that children from low income families are not at a financial disadvantage during their education as a result of home circumstances. It is therefore important for parents to register even if their child is in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 and already receiving the universal free school meal (as part of the Government initative).

If a child is on our Free School Meals register, then they may qualify for all sorts of other financial benefits throughout the year such as help with uniform costs, breakfast club sessions or financial assistance with school trips. There may well be parents at Sytchampton that have not registered their child even though they are entitled to.

If you think you may qualify for Free School Meals for your child, please see the document "FSM self service parent information" which gives full details of how to apply. The link to apply online is https://emsi.worcestershire.gov.uk/CitizenPortal_LIVE/en
